12Jul Something New
For the last few months I have been working on a new venture. Over Christmas I realised that Jersey was full of talented artists, designers, photographers and crafters, and that there should be a way of letting the world know about these talented people. I wanted to create a site that shouted about the vast array of creative businesses here in Jersey. I wanted people outside of Jersey to be able to see what we had to offer.
Last month, 'From Jersey with Love' was born. I joined forces with Gail who makes candles and diffusers as Florence James Jersey, to seek out places where we could hold pop up shops, to try and find places where we could hold shopping events that were a little different from your normal craft fair. We held our first pop up shop early in June, we had 5 crafters involved and it was a great success! Bearing in mind that we only advertised for 5 days as we only got the lease on the Monday, we all felt that it had been a fantastic start to our new little business.
I have been building a website too, initially I was hoping to create a shop where Jersey crafters could hold their own shops as not everyone has the time to build their own websites. Unfortunately I couldn't secure the sponsorship/funds needed to complete this part, so have settled for a directory type site for now. We are also offering packages for promotions and social media exposure. The dream is to create an online arcade of the finest creative businesses that Jersey has to offer.
Florence James and The Lilac Dragonfly are the main sponsors of the website, but we're always looking for more sponsorship to help us move forward. In return, we will do sponsor shout outs on the usual social media platforms and sponsors will have their logo and link on all pages of the website.
Please do pop along and see what's happening over there, if you're a Jersey creative business, please sign up to one of our packages (there is a FREE option) and help us raise the profile of Jersey's finest creatives.
This was our first pop up shop in Liberty Wharf, St Helier.
I think that's all of my news, no other news, gossip or scandal ;)
Bye for now
